Advanced integration with WooCommerce Show Single Variations by Iconic plugin: hide/show product variations for search results, search for variations tags and categories, hide 'Add to cart' buttons, change variations titles.
WooCommerce Show Single Variations by Iconic plugin give you full control over WooCommerce product variations. You can show them on different shop pages, set visibility options for each variation, set custom titles, set categories and tags.
Great news is that it is fully integrated with Advanced Woo Search (AWS) plugin. Plugin will respect all product variations options - visibility, title, taxonomies. Also AWS plugin itself has several useful features to search and display product variations. We will cover all these points in the next topics.
One of the main features of WooCommerce Show Single Variations plugin is the option to set visibility for WooCommerce product variations.
Worth to say that product variations visibility options work independently from their parent product - parent product can have Hidden
visibility but its variations can still be visible on shop pages.
Here we will shortly cover how we can change these visibility options. There are two main ways to do this: individually for each product or for all products at once. We will cover them both.
Open any product variations in WordPress editor and check its variations. Each of them will have a bunch of new individual options.
First of all we are interested in Show in Search Results?
option. Make sure that it is checked in order to search and display for this variation.
Also you can take a look at options like Show in Filtered Results?
and Show in Catalog?
that control visibility of product variations in different types of pages.
In such a way you can set visibility for any variation that you need.
If you have a large number of product variations it is not very handy to change their visibility manually.
In this case, we have a second option for bulk visibility change.
Go to WooCommerce -> Show Single Variations -> Index page. Click on Run Indexer button.
On the pop-up choose visibility option values that you want to set for all shop variations. Also check Overwrite existing variation settings
option if you want to overwrite it for products for which you have previously set this option. Then click Next.
Lastly choose what visibility to set for parent products. If you want to show only product variations and hide all parent product then set this option to Hidden
.
Click Submit and wait till the index is complete.
Now all your variable products and variations will have visibility options according to your selected values.
n order to search and display product variations, first of all go to the plugin settings page -> Search Results tab and check Variable products option. Make sure that it is set to display product variations. Additionally decide whether to show it or not variable products.
Also on the same page check Products visibility option. With this option you can set what visibility products must have in order to be visible as search results.
Make sure that variations that you want to display have specified visibility values.
Now, when these two options are set, just check your search form. Search for any product variation. It must be available for search and will be immediately visible inside the search results list.
Note: have any problems with product variations search and display? Try to open the plugin page and hit Reindex table button. Wait till the index is complete and check search results one more time.
Additionally you can set special search results filters to have even more control over product variations search. For example you can show only product variations with specific attributes.
To do this open the plugin settings page -> Search Results tab and scroll down to Filter Results section. Here it is possible to set a new filter for product search results. For example - show only products with Blue value for Color attribute.
WooCommerce Show Single Variations plugin has the feature to add categories and tags to specific product variations. By default child products just inherit these values from their parent product.
Great news is that you can search for these values via Advanced Woo Search plugin and display relevant products search results.
Here are steps overview of how to set categories for product variations and search for products via these terms:
1. Open needed product variation. Enable Manage categories?
option for it. Then scroll down and set needed categories inside Categories field. In our example we set the category New collection
for this product variation.
2. Now make sure that product categories search is enabled for plugin search forms. Open plugin settings page -> Search Results tab. Find Search in option and make sure that Category
field is enabled for it.
3. Also check that search for product variations is enabled. To do this follow the steps from previous chapter.
4. We are ready. Now just test your search form by searching for the product variation category that we added previously. We must see that variation inside the search results list.
With Advanced Woo Search PRO it is possible to add Add to cart buttons right for products inside search results. This is actual and for product variations too.
Just open the plugin settings page -> Search results tab and find Show 'Add to cart' option. Enable it and check your search results to see needed buttons there.
Want to hide Add to cart button for certain product variations? No problem, with WooCommerce Show Single Variations it is possible. Just open the product variation edit page and check Disable "Add to Cart"?
option.
Additional feature of WooCommerce Show Single Variations plugin is the option to change product variation title. By default product variation inherits title from its parent product ( and adds attributes values ).
When you set this custom title for product variation then you can search by this new title. It is one of the parts of advanced integration with Advanced Woo Search plugin.
Here are the steps to change product variation title and search via it:
1. Open needed product variation edit page. Find Title field for it and set any custom title that you want. For our example we set it to new title
.
2. Now let's make sure that product title search is enabled. Open plugin settings page -> Search Results tab. Find Search in option and make sure that Title
field is enabled for it.
3. Also check that search for product variations is enabled. To do this follow the steps from previous chapter.
4. Now just search for this product by using its new title. Inside search results list products also will be displayed with its new custom title.
